Class of 2025

Congratulations to our 2025 scholarship recipients! Each one of these deserving students are champions for suicide prevention!

The scholarship applicants were challenged with the following prompt:

"What does the latest scientific research on youth suicide prevention tell us regarding the most effective ways to prevent a suicide?  Based on what you learn through your research, provide your opinions and include your thoughts about the types of prevention methods that would be best for students at your school."

Their essays explore the latest research and offer their own thoughts and ideas relative to suicide prevention. 

Abram Smith

Abram is a graduate of Owasso High School.  He has been involved in numerous school activities including serving as chapter President of both Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and National Honor Society.  Abram is also very involved at Owasso First Methodist Church serving as a youth delegate on Church Council, playing in the praise band, assisting in the Youth Leadership Council and going on mission trips.  When he’s not busy at school or church, Abram teaches golf, violin and tutors.  Abram is a published novelist, authoring ‘The Quantum State’.  Further, Abram serves on the Magalassi Foundation Board and has been instrumental in advancing the cause of suicide prevention. 

In the fall, Abram plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Abram’s scholarship is given in Memory of Floyd Jozwiak, Brandon’s grandfather.

Grace Rogers

Grace is a graduate of Owasso High School.  She is involved in National Honors Society where she has been recognized for academic excellence and leadership.  Grace is also a competitive cheerleader.  She is a member of the US National All-Girl Cheer Team winning World Gold Champion in 2024, along with numerous other competitions.  Grace is passionate about mental health as it relates to athletes. 

Grace plans to attend the University of Tennessee in the fall to study psychology and psychiatry with an emphasis on sports and children.

Grace’s scholarship is given in memory of Nathan Rosa, son of Mike and MaryAnn Rosa.  MaryAnn serves on the Magalassi Foundation Board.

Anna Callery

Anna is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.  Anna excels in both academics and sports.  She has served as chapter National Honor Society President, Student Council Executive Board Vice President of Operations and Student Council Representative and Treasurer.  Anna runs for the varsity cross country track team and plays varsity basketball.  Anna is passionate about science and recently completed a research internship at Oklahoma State University. 

Anna plans to attend Samford University in Alabama this fall to study biology.

Carter Acree

Carter is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.  Carter has been very involved in academics, sports and his community.  He has served as Secretary for his chapter of the National Honor Society and Executive Board Vice President for Student Council.  Carter has maintained his status on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll throughout high school.  Carter also plays on the Rejoice football and golf teams.   In his spare time, Carter serves his community through Owasso Youth Court, Young Life and tribal involvement as a youth leader.  He has participated in mission trips to Mexico as well. 

Carter plans to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall to study mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Garrett Barney

Garrett is a graduate of Rejoice Christian School.  Garrett has served as his chapter’s National Honor Society Vice President and Student Council Historian.  He enjoys mentoring junior high students and serving as a volunteer for Young Life.  Garrett also enjoys sports.  He has been the Captain of the Rejoice Soccer Team and Captain of the Broken Arrow Boys Volleyball Team. 

Garrett plans to attend Auburn University to study mechanical engineering in the fall.
